Coming This Week: 1/18 scale Art Arfons Green Monster
The Green Monster was the name of several vehicles built by Art Arfons and his half brother Walt Arfons. These ranged from dragsters to a turbojet-powered car which briefly held the land speed record three times during 1964 and 1965.
The land speed record “Green Monster” won the land speed record three times during the close competition of 1964 and 1965. It was powered by an F-104 Starfighter jet engine with four-stage afterburner.

Gulf 917. The Porsche 917 is one of the most successful and iconic racing cars of all tme, thanks in part to its starring role in the Steve McQueen film, Le Mans. This volume presents a detailed chassis-by-chassis and race-by-race history of the Porsche 917s raced by the John Wyer/Gulf team. The book includes the history leading to the 917 and the partnership between Porsche, Gulf and JW Automotive Engineering. The cars profiled in the book were instrumental in Porsche’s taking of the 1970 and 1971 World Sportscar Championship titles as the Gulf-Porsche 917s won 11 of the 17 championship races entered.
Written with assistance from JWAE Chief Engineer, John Horsman, the book includes scans of his original race data sheets. The book also includes numerous rarely seen photos, many from Porsche’s archive. Detailed post-Gulf histories are presented for each car. Relive the exploits of driving legends Jo Siffert, Pedro Rodriguez and teammates Brian Redman, Leo Kinnunen, Derek Bell and Jackie Oliver as they race the Gulf 917s on the fast tracks of an evocative motorsport era.

Another burst of new product announcements from Tecnomodel today.
In 1/18 scale, a series of 5 Porsche 718 RSK’s in various configurations, including 3 entries from the 1958 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Wolfgang von Trips Zeltweg winner from 1958.
Also in 1/18 scale, the Ferrari 365 GTC 4 in four colors, including the Rosso Corsa with Black Interior seen here.
Also in today’s announcement, five 1/43 scale examples of the McLaren 720S in assorted colors.
All of the above are being produced in Limited Editions of various sizes from 150 to just 49.

Tecnomodel will produce Limited Edition (100 each) resin models of four versions of the Ferrari Dino 246 F1 used by Mike Hawthorn to become World Champion in 1958. Collins, Musso and Gendebien versions are also on the list.

More news from GMP/Acme this morning. They have resurrected their 1/18 scale Lola Formula 5000 project that has laid dormant for a couple of years now.
In addition to the previously announced Brian Redman Steed Lola and Danny Ongias Interscope Lola, they have added Redman’s 1975 F5000 Championship winning Boraxo Lola.
The company estimates that 400 each will be produced with a planned ETA of December 2018.
If you have previously placed an order for one or both of the original Lolas, we will contact you in the next couple of days to reconfirm.
