1/43 Spark Announcements

We have posted the latest 1/43 Spark new product announcements in three sections at MotorsportCollector.com:

The first section covers the latest Spark and Spark National items, including a few we told you about a couple weeks ago along with a pair of Le Mans winners, the 2019 Daytona and Sebring winners and a lot more. Click HERE

 

The second section contains 30+ entries from the 2019 24 Hours of Spa, including the winner. All will be produced in Limited Editions as part of the Spark Belgian National series.

Last but not least, Spark will produce the winning Audi and 5 other entries from the 2019 10 Hours of Suzuka. All will be Limited Editions in their Japan National Series. Click HERE

1/18 Daytona 24 Winner from TopSpeed!

TopSpeed has announced a 1/18 scale Limited Edition resin model of the 2019 Rolex 24 at Daytona winning #10 Konica Minolta Cadillac DPi-V.R of Wayne Taylor Racing.

Only 500 will be produced.

Drivers Renger van der Zande, Jordan Taylor, Fernando Alonso & Kamui Kobayashi started 6th in the strong 12 car DPi field and were at the head of the pack when the race was red flagged after 593 laps due to extreme weather conditions, scoring the second victory in three years for the Wayne Taylor Racing Team.

The model is projected to arrive in the US in early December. Reserve HERE!

1/43 Parnelli VPJ4 Grand Prix cars from Spark Model?

It looks like Spark Model is about to announce production of three 1/43 versions of the short lived Vel’s Parnelli Jones VPJ4 Formula One car as driven by Mario Andretti from late 1974 until early 1976.

Several versions of the Parnelli VPJ4 appeared in the 2014 Spark Catalog but were never released:

The #55 Viceroy liveried car (seen above) marked the VPJ4’s F1 debut at the 1974 Canadian Grand Prix at Mosport.

Andretti’s highest finish with the VPJ4 was a 4th in the 1975 Swedish Grand Prix at the wheel of the non-Viceroy liveried #27 seen below.

The #27 VPJ4 sported a blue and white American Racing Wheels livery for its  final GP appearance at Long Beach in 1976.

  • The 1970 season: after troubled early development, the 72 finally took over from the long-serving 49, its four consecutive race wins enough to secure the World Championship for Jochen Rindt, posthumously after his death during practice for the Italian Grand Prix.
  • The 1971 season: with promising youngster Emerson Fittipaldi elevated to team leader after Rindt’s death, great things were expected of the 72’s second season but it proved to be winless.
  • The 1972 season: now in black and gold John Player livery, the 72 became far more competitive and Fittipaldi’s four Grand Prix victories made him World Champion.
  • The 1973 season: Ronnie ‘SuperSwede’ Peterson joined Fittipaldi to form a dream team and together they won seven races, but because Lotus’s spoils were divided between the two drivers Jackie Stewart was able to come through to become World Champion.
  • The 1974 season: still the 72 soldiered on, now as the fall-back car after its successor, the 76, failed to deliver; partnered by Jacky Ickx, Peterson won three Grands Prix.
  • The 1975 season: well beyond its sell-by date, the 72 did a final season but by now it was far from effective, with Ickx’s second place in the tragic Spanish Grand Prix its best result.
