1961 was the greatest – and in some ways most difficult – year of Phil Hill’s racing career. As a works driver for Ferrari, Hill won the Belgian and Italian Grand Prix on his way to becoming the first American to win the Formula One World Championship.
Sadly, teammate Wolfgang von Trips died at Monza the day Hill clinched his title.
In sports cars, Hill and Olivier Gendebien won both the 1961 24 Hours of Le Mans – their second of 3 victories as a team – and the 1961 12 Hours of Sebring driving the Ferrari 250 TR61.
Tecnomodel has announced they will produce 7 versions of the 1961 World Sports Car Championship winning Ferrari 250 TR61 in 1/18 scale Limited Editions.
In addition to the Sebring and Le Mans winning cars, the list includes the 1961 GP di Pescara winning #4 (Bandini / Scarletti), the #11 Le Mans runner up of Parkes / Mariesse, a Press Car and two versions driven by the Rodriguez Brothers at Le Mans (#17, DNF) and the Nurburgring 1000km (#5, 2nd).
Tecnomodel has also announced Driver Figure versions of the Benetton B196, Footwork FA13 and Larrousse Lola LC88 Formula One cars.
You can check out everything HERE.
Unfortunately, we have a very short pre-order window on all of the above. We must submit orders by the close of business this Friday, November 21. Please drop me a note if you have any questions.
