1/18 scale Ferrari 315 S ( s/n 0684) 1957 Mille Miglia Winner
Piero Taruffi
“Fitted with a V12 engine with four chain driven overhead camshafts, a significant improvement from the previous engine with a single overhead camshaft per cylinder bank. The new engine, in addition to being more powerful, is also nine pounds lighter and proves to be more reliable”.
The Mille Miglia was Italy’s classic long distance run, normally carried out on roads open to traffic, was held twenty-four times from 1927 until 1957, when a horrific accident claimed the life of Ferrari driver Alfoso de Portago, his navigator, Edmund Nelson and 9 spectators – including 5 children.
